This policy explains what information mμ (“we”, “us”) collects when you use muindex.com and the mμ app at app.muindex.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect
When you visit muindex.com
Like any website, muindex.com is delivered by a hosting provider, which processes basic technical information to serve each page — your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request — and gives us aggregate visit and performance statistics that don’t identify you. The website also uses cookies, as described below.
The Market news and Trade tape panels on our homepage load from a third-party data service. To show them, your browser requests that data directly from the service, so it receives your IP address and browser information, as it would for any request, and handles it under its own privacy policy.
Cookies and similar technologies
muindex.com uses cookies and similar technologies from analytics and advertising providers to:
- count visits and see how the website is used, such as which pages you view, which buttons you click, and which options you try on our pricing and report pages; and
- measure our ads, and show them to people who have visited muindex.com when they use other websites and social networks.
These providers receive information such as your IP address, your browser and device, the pages you visit, and how you arrived, and may combine it with information they already hold about you, under their own privacy policies.
If you’re in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, we ask before using these cookies, and they stay off unless you accept. Everywhere else they’re on by default. Wherever you are, you can accept or decline at any time from Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we turn advertising cookies off unless you accept them. Your choice is saved in your browser. To decide whether to ask, we check which country your visit comes from; we don’t store it.
When you request access
The access request form asks for your name, your email address, and your answers about why you’re interested and which features you want. We store your request and email it to the members of our team who review requests.
When you have an account
- Account details: your username, email address, and display name. Your password is stored only as a one-way hash, so we can’t read it.
- Account activity: when your account was created and when you last signed in.
- What you create: the tracks you add to your index, the valuations you save, and the assumptions you set in the Valuation Lab.
- Sign-in links: if you sign in by email, we send a one-time link. We keep only a hashed copy of it.
The app uses a cookie to keep you signed in. It is needed for the app to work, and it isn’t used for advertising or to track you on other sites.
When you subscribe to mμ Insights
We ask for your email address. We send one email asking you to confirm, and add you to the mμ Insights list only once you do. We use the address only to send mμ Insights, our email delivery provider processes it to do so, and every issue includes a link to unsubscribe.
When you contact us
If you email us, we keep your message and our reply so we can help you.
How we use it
- To run your account, sign you in, and keep the service secure.
- To review access requests and send invitations.
- To send service emails, such as sign-in links and access decisions.
- To send mμ Insights, if you’ve subscribed.
- To answer your questions.
- To understand how the website is used, so we can improve it.
- To measure our ads and show them to people who have visited muindex.com, with your permission where the law requires it.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We don’t sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We share information with service providers that process it on our behalf to run mμ, and with the analytics and advertising providers described under Cookies and similar technologies.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of our business, in which case we’ll tell you.
How long we keep it
We keep account information while your account is open, and access requests for as long as we need them to review requests and keep a record of decisions. When we no longer need information, we delete it. You can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time. Analytics and advertising cookies expire as their providers set them, typically within two years, and you can clear them from your browser whenever you like.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct, delete, or give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you by emailing intelligence@muindex.com. Depending on where you live, local law may give you further rights, and we’ll honor requests as that law requires.

Security
Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes, connections to mμ are encrypted, and access to member data is limited to the people who need it to run the service. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
Children
mμ is built for professionals and isn’t directed at anyone under 18. We don’t knowingly collect information from children.
Where your information is processed
Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries.
Changes to this policy
We’ll post any changes here and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll let account holders know.
